ACADEMICS

Throughout my school life, I have always given priority to academics while balancing them with other commitments. I have consistently been at the top of my class, and even when it got challenging, I tried to put in my best effort. In Grades 11 and 12, I chose some of the toughest subjects available in my school: physics, chemistry, mathematics, computer science, and English. Among them, computer science soon became my favorite. The logical flow of the subject felt natural to me, and I knew it was something I wanted to pursue further.

My interest in computer science really began during COVID, when I had my first coding class in HTML. I still remember how excited I was the first time I made a website and how I looked forward to every class after that. Around the same time, I also noticed how much of the world’s attention had shifted to numbers and data. It made me realize just how powerful this field was and how closely it connected to real life. Since then, computer science has been the subject I enjoy the most and the one I see as part of my future.

Apart from school academics, I also wanted to challenge myself further. Since my school did not offer AP courses, I decided to take them on my own. I completed five APs: statistics, psychology, physics mechanics, calculus BC, and computer science A. My favorites were calculus BC and computer science A, both of which pushed me to think differently and dive deeper into problem solving. I received the AP Scholar with Distinction award for my performance, with scores of 5 in calculus BC, computer science A, statistics, and psychology, and a 4 in physics mechanics. These courses taught me how different subjects require different approaches, and they helped me adapt to new styles of learning beyond what was taught in the classroom.
